AAP secures majority in Sunam Municipal Council

Sunam (Punjab), May 29, 2026: The ruling Aam Aadmi Party has registered a major victory in the Sunam Municipal Council elections, securing a clear majority and paving the way to form the council presidency.
According to the results declared so far for 23 wards in the Sunam Municipal Council, the Aam Aadmi Party has won 12 seats, while one seat has gone to an independent candidate.
The victory holds political significance as Sunam is the constituency of Punjab AAP President and Cabinet Minister Aman Arora, strengthening the party’s position in the region.
Meanwhile, the results have also delivered setbacks to opposition parties, with candidates linked to the state leadership of both the Indian National Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party reportedly losing in their respective constituencies.
