SAS Nagar, April 30: Lok Sabha elections for SAS Nagar & Kharar constituency falling under Anandpur Sahib Constituency & for Dera Bassi falling under Patiala constituency, completed successfully. Stating this, District Electoral Officer-cum-Deputy Commissioner Sh. Tejinder Pal Singh Sidhu said that a remarkable turn-out of 70.17 percent has been recorded in the district, where as during last election poling was recorded as 67 percent. Before this, sh. Sidhu visited & reviewed the election process at various polling booths in the district & examined from the people about the arrangements at polling booths. Voters expressed their satisfaction about the arrangements & said that for the first time they have seen the arrangement of proper drinking water, proper sitting arrangement & a better queue management. Before this, Sh. Sidhu visited the Super Model Polling booth at Shivalik Public School, Phase -6 & reviewed the election process. Here Sh. Sidhu honored a young female voter with appreciation letter & a mug, who casted her vote for the first time. At here, an Ex service man along with his wife who came here to cast vote, specially thanked Deputy Commissioner for the arrangement & said that after the independence, it is noticed for the first time when voters are being welcomed by NSS volunteers & also being offered with drinking water & sitting chairs etc. Worth mentioning at here, that district administration has prepared Super Model & Model Polling stations in the district to facilitate the voters, where special arrangements have been ensured. Magician played various tricks & entertained the voters standing in queues. Addressing the press Sh. Sidhu said that relevant arrangements to conduct peaceful elections had been ensured by the administration & cooperation from the general public were sought for the same, as a result the election process completed smoothly. He said that in SAS Nagar constituency 67.89 percent polling was recorded, in Kharar 70 percent & in Dera Bassi 72.64 percent polling has been recorded. He said that a total of 688 polling booths were established in the district & 2752 polling staff members were deputed, who performed their assigned duties with full dedication & honesty. For this, Sh. Sidhu heartily thanked all the members deputed in election duties and said that successful completion of peaceful election is a result of impartial & honest duties performed by polling staff. He said that polling parties have submitted the election material & EVMs after completion of polls. EVMS & other election material of SAS Nagar & Kharar constituency have been submitted at Shivalik Public School. The EVMs thus submitted have been kept in strong room & will be opened on 16 May for final counting. Meanwhile the election material & EVMs of Dera Bassi constituency submitted at Rajpura have been kept in strong rooms which are under 24x7close security. The strong rooms have been locked & sealed in the presence of representatives of various political parties.
