Ferozepur, September 25, 2018: District Magistrate-cum-Deputy Commissioner, Balwinder Singh Dhaliwal informed that 31st March, 2018 is the last chance for arms licence holders before April 1, 2016, who had not got registered for UIN Number, under National Database of Arms License – Arms License Issuance -NDAL/ALIS system developed by National Informatics Center – NIC – with the objective to check proliferation and misuse of arms and ammunition.
With a view to checking misuse of arms and ammunition, the licensing authorities in all the districts will generate Unique Identification Number – UIN – for all arms licensees in Punjab.
The Ministry of Home Affairs-MHA – has issued a notification according to which all the arms licence holders, new or old, will be included in a national data base of arms licences system and they will be issued a Unique Identification Number – UIN.
In fact, Punjab being border state and having faced black days of terrorism, checking licit and illicit firearms within the state was a priority area for the state government to ensure peace, harmony and law and order for the citizens at large.
He advised all arms licence holders to visit his office in Establishment Branch with an application, arms licence, Aadhar Card, PAN/Voter Card and Passport size photograph so that their arms licences could be uploaded in the said software for issuing UNI Number.
The Government of India site after March 31, 2018, will be closed, he added.
