Amritsar, January 9, 2021: Deepika Dean, a newly recruited headmistress of Government High School, Abdal in the district, have come forward with worth emulating innovative initiative to achieve " Mission Shat Pratishat".
Accompanied by her staff members, she has started door to door campaign to make the parents aware about the reopening of schools as well as to mobilize them to send their wards to school so that they could be well prepared for the ensuing final exam.
It is worthwhile to mention here that Deepika has directly been recruited through Punjab Public Service Commission and joined in January last year. Earlier, she has mobilised village panchayat to donate adjoining land and a defunct community hall to the school for ensuring better infrastructure facilities to the students.
"Earlier, the schools for the students of classes 9th to 12th were opened and students have been attending the school with the consent of their parents. Now, the Punjab govt. has opened schools for the classes from 5th to 8th also with the consent of the parents.
The two day "Parents Teachers Meet" ( PTM) was also organised on January 07 and 08 to interact with the parents about the progress report of the students", said Deepika while adding that the door to door campaign was especially planned to reach out to those parents, who could not come to school.
The school staff members- Parwinder kaur, Jaspal Kaur, Jaspinder Kaur and Manjider Kaur have come forward to lend their support with zeal and all of us visited the houses of all the parents to apprise them about the education facilities while adhering to the COVID-199 precautions being provided in the school.
The parents were also sensitized about the " Mission Cent Percent'. Besides, the village residents were also made aware about the infrastructure as well as quality education facilities coupled with various welfare schemes like Mid Day Meal, school Uniforms, Scholarships etc. for the eligible beneficiaries being provided in the government schools to motivate them to get their wards enrolled in the government schools, further added Deepika.
The innovative initiative has also been lauded by the Education Department by posting it on " Activities School Education Punjab" face book page, said the District Education Officer(SE), Satinderbir Singh while adding that the initiative would prove a source of inspiration for the others to replicate the good practice.
