MLA Beri asks NGOs to be ‘Ambassadors of Greenery’ to make Jalandhar Clean, Green & Pollution Free
Jalandhar, June 6, 2021: MLA from Jalandhar Central assembly segment Mr. Rajinder Beri today gave a clarion call to the NGOs for becoming the ‘ambassadors of greenery’ to make Jalandhar city clean, green, and pollution-free.
The MLA, while kick-starting plantation drive by NGO Yarana Club here at the park of Master Tara Singh Nagar, underscored the need for planting more and more trees to enhance the green cover in the district.
He said that it was the bounden duty of everybody to make stupendous efforts for protecting the environment adding that NGOs could play an instrumental role in this entire process by galvanizing more and more people to make such drives a mass movement.
Beri said that trees play a crucial role by conserving natural resources and improving the environment, which was the need of the hour especially in wake of the ongoing Covid 19 pandemic.
MLA said that the sole aim of all such drives being initiated by the NGOs was to ensure maximum green cover in the district through the plantation of trees.
He said that under the revamped ‘Tandarust Punjab Mission’ the Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh had on Saturday given a Rs 47.74 crore gift to Jalandhar residents in form of two projects viz. Bio-remediation project at Waryana Dump and maintenance of green belts in the district.
Beri said that ‘Mission Tandarust Punjab’ was a comprehensive mission to preserve and improve the quality of air, water, and food in the state, thereby ensuring a good living environment for the citizens of Punjab. Assuring fulsome support and cooperation to NGO for this noble cause, he exhorted the office bearers of NGO to plant maximum saplings for enhancing green cover in the district.
Earlier, welcoming the MLA President of NGO Mr. Sandeep Jindal, Varun Gupta, Munish Jindal, Sukjinder Singh, Saurabh Kumar, and others lauded the efforts being made by Mr. Beri for the comprehensive development of the area.
They also recalled the stupendous efforts being made by the MLA to mitigate the woes of the general public during the Covid crisis. They said that the organization had been serving the needy and underprivileged strata of society from last more than seven years.
