Batala: MC kicks off campaign to neuter 1000 dogs
MC has issued a tender of Rs. 14 lakhs to curb the growth of stray dogs
The ABC program has been launched by Mayor Sukhdeep Singh Teja
Batala, July 27, 2021: Municipal Corporation Batala has taken a new initiative to tackle the problem of stray dogs in the city. Inaugurating the Animal Birth Control (ABC) program in Batala city, Mayor Mr. Sukhdeep Singh Teja said that under the first phase, 1000 stray dogs would be neutered in Batala city.
He said that the Municipal Corporation would neuter one thousand stray dogs in the city within next 2 months and this program would be continued even after that Meanwhile, Dr. Sarabjit Singh Randhawa, Senior Veterinary Officer, Animal Husbandry Department said that the Animal Birth Control (ABC) program was very effective in controlling the number of stray dogs.
He said that the cost of neutering a dog would be around Rs. 1400. He said that the right ear of dog will be cut in ‘V’ shape for identification in neuter dog.
On this occasion, the President of Citizen Welfare Fourm Prof. Sukhwant Singh Gill appreciated the move initiated by Municipal Corporation.He said that the cooperation of Animal Husbandry Department was also being sought in this campaign. Appreciating the Animal Birth Control (ABC) program, he said that it would help the people of the city to get rid of the problem of stray dogs.
He said that there were daily reports of people being bitten by stray dogs in many places. He said that the neutering of dogs by the Municipal Corporation was a great initiative and Citizen fourm should extend all possible cooperation in this endeavour.
Mayor S. Mr. Sukhdeep Singh Teja further said that under the dog neutering program the stray dogs would be caught in the city by the concerned firm and their expert Veterinary doctors will conduct neutering operations and dogs will be sterilized.
He said that in addition to neutering the dogs, they would also be vaccinated against the rabies disease. He said that after neutering, the dog would be kept in the neutering centre for three days during which he would be given diet.
He further said that the Animal Birth Control (ABC) campaign launched today would result in providing the relief to general public as there were daily reports of people being bitten by stray dogs and in the near future this move would help in curbing the growth of stray dogs in city.
On this occasion Councillor Sanjeev Sharma, Gautam Sath Guddu, Prabhjot Singh Chattha, Kake Shah, Ramesh Verma, Chandra Mohan, Balbir Khokhar, Parminder Singh, Harpal Singh Khalsa Best Tile Wale, Davinder Singh, Gurpreet Singh, Kasturi Lal, Bura Gandhi camp and Shammi Kapoor were also present.
