Heritage Walk organized to commemorate 260 years of Patiala

Patiala, February 12, 2023: As part of the Patiala Heritage Festival 2022-2023 and to commemorate the completion of 260 years of existence of PATIALA, Patiala Foundation under its iHERITAGE project organized a heritage walk in collaboration with the district administration.
The 117th Patiala heritage walk was led by Ravee Singh Ahluwalia, Chief Executive Officer, Patiala Foundation.
The walk started from the Shahi Samadhan and progressed through the Haveliwala mohalla, Chatta Nanumal, Bartan Bazaar, Sappan wali Gali, Darshani Gate and finally culminated at the Qila Mubarak, and Patiala.
The city of Patiala has historical significance and rich cultural heritage and the walk took the participants which included school children, youth, and the general public through the various eras of history related to each heritage place.
The District Administration has added sign boards with QR Codes at the Pause points en route to the Heritage Walk, to make it easier for the visitors to take a quick, know-how about the history of the particular site digitally.
In the coming days, it would be possible to take virtual tours and a Digital Heritage walk shall be in offing. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia said that the heritage tours would continue under the heritage project of the Patiala Foundation by establishing Heritage Clubs in schools.
He further requested the Chief Guest S. Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra MLA Sanaur to make available the Digital darshan of the Holy Dhuni & Holy Jyot on the premises of the Qila Mubarak by installing an LED so that the locals and tourists can pay their respect & homage to the founder of our royal city Patiala.
A proposal for the same is already under consideration by the Punjab Heritage Tourism and Promotion Board.
The Chief Guest for the event was S. Harmeet Singh Pathanmajra. The event was organized under the guidance of the honorable Deputy Commissioner Ms. Sakshi Sawhney, Joint Commissioner Municipal Corporation Sh Naman Marken, and other officials of District Administration, CEO of Patiala Foundation Sh. Ravee Singh Ahluwalia and his team including Sh SP Chand, Sh Rakesh Badhwar, S Anmoljit Singh, Sh Harpreet Sandhu, Sh Rakesh Goyal, Dr.Abhninandan Bassi, Dr. Nidhi Sharma, Sh Rahul Sharma, Sh Vikram Malhotra, and others. Patiala Foundation volunteers- Bharpur Singh, Palak, Nitika Jindal, Harmanjot Singh, Harpreet Singh, Sanyam Mittal, Satnam Singh, and Mohit Gupta helped in conducting the walk successfully with their active participation.

Patiala Foundation is working on various Social welfare projects since 2009. Patiala Foundation has been accorded with Special Consultative Status with the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (UN-ECOSOC) since 2018.
We have our iHERITAGE Project (UN-SDG 11, 15 &16) under which we are working towards the recognition of Heritage sites in the state of PUNJAB.
iHERITAGE is an initiative to motivate people to engage with their Heritage.
