Amritsar, May 18, 2024 Lok-Raj Punjab has called for an autonomous "Vatican City-like Status to Amritsar," for deserving respect for Sri Guru Granth Sahib, international security to Golden Temple-Akal Takht Sahi'.
Making this demand an "election issue", President of 'Lok-Raj Punjab, Dr. Manjit Singh Randhawa has urged ,Loksabha candidates to clarify their position on the demand for "Vatican status to Amritsar" during elections.
Dr. Manjit Singh Randhawa, in a joint statement along with 'Culture and Heritage Conservation Initiative' and 'Guru-Adab Morcha Sirhind', has also questioned the logic of ruling regime, behind fixing election date in punjab coinciding with 40th anniversary of tragic Operation Blue Star, even during 7-phase election schedule.
" Why no remorse has been expressed till date, over unforgettable 'Blue-star' tragedy, planned brutal genocide and alienation of Sikh community, by the leaderships of various parties, who remained in power, during long period of four decades ? Time proved, that such unbecoming arrogant attitude has done great damage to the interests of multi nations country. This is a very sad phenomenon and the height of ingratitude," he added.
He said that in the larger interest of the country, giving 'Akal-Takhat' autonomous status like the 'Vatican' would be a worthy attempt to atone for past mistakes.
"'Akal-Takhat' has the heritage legacy of leading the historic wars of freedom during the 18th century, which freed India from the "worst-ever disgusting slavery" of more than nine centuries. Although much belated, but still it will apply some "soothing balm" over "ever-sore wounds" of the Sikh nation, and will also restore much needed trust and strength to the country," he said.
