Babushahi Bureau
Chandigarh, March 22, 2026: National BJP leader, Advocate Sukhminderpal Singh Grewal Bhukhri Kalan strongly condemned what he described as the shameful collapse of governance in Punjab under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and the ruling Aam Aadmi Party.
Talking to media persons here today, Grewal said that the tragic death of young and brilliant officer Dr. Gagandeep Singh Randhawa, a gazetted officer of the Punjab State Warehousing Corporation, is not merely a tragedy but a horrifying indictment of the lawless atmosphere created by the present regime.
He said that an honest, highly educated and upright officer has allegedly been pushed to death after facing unbearable humiliation, brutality and psychological torture at the hands of a sitting minister.
He said that the allegations against Punjab Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar are chilling and barbaric. Grewal said that according to serious accusations emerging from the case, the minister allegedly tried to force a warehouse tender in the name of his father Sukhdev Singh Bhullar.
When strict rules of the Food Corporation of India blocked the corrupt deal, the minister allegedly lost his temper and began targeting the officer.
Grewal said that Dr. Randhawa was allegedly summoned to the minister’s residence, where he was abused, beaten on the head, stripped naked and humiliated like a criminal. Grewal said that the officer was allegedly filmed during this humiliation in an attempt to completely break his dignity and spirit.
He said that the cruelty did not stop there. Grewal said that gangsters were allegedly used to threaten the kidnapping and murder of Dr. Randhawa’s small children. He said that this level of intimidation against a serving government officer exposes the frightening criminalisation of power in Punjab.
Grewal said that a serving gazetted officer of the Punjab Government being allegedly tortured, terrorised and mentally destroyed by a sitting minister is nothing short of a collapse of democratic governance.
He said that this is not administration but a brutal mafia style regime operating under Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.
He said that this case cannot be brushed aside as a simple suicide. Grewal said that the circumstances strongly point towards what appears to be institutional murder driven by political terror and abuse of power.
Grewal said that the resignation of Laljit Singh Bhullar is absolutely not justice. He said resignation is merely a desperate attempt at damage control while the real crime remains buried.
He said that Punjab demands the immediate arrest of Laljit Singh Bhullar and a full independent investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation.
Grewal said that the entire bureaucracy of India is watching this case with deep concern. He said that if an honest officer can be humiliated, tortured and driven to death by a minister today, then tomorrow no officer in the country will feel safe performing his duty with integrity.
Grewal said that Amit Shah, Union Home Minister of India, must ensure decisive action so that the truth comes out and the guilty are punished without delay.
He said that justice must be delivered to Dr. Gagandeep Singh Randhawa and the dignity of honest officers must be protected.
Grewal said that Punjab will not forget this crime, Punjab will not stay silent and Punjab will continue to demand justice until every person responsible is brought behind bars.
Grewal also strongly condemned the detention of opposition leaders and workers during protest demonstrations today. He said that leaders and workers of BJP, Congress and Shiromani Akali Dal were taken into custody while protesting against this shocking incident. Grewal described these detentions as another example of the authoritarian and intolerant attitude of the Aam Aadmi Party government in Punjab.
