Anti-drug drive continues uninterrupted despite floods in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 30, 2025: Despite the ongoing floods, the Punjab Government’s campaign “War Against Drugs” continues without interruption, with the Health Department ensuring that de-addiction patients do not face breaks in their treatment. Under the leadership of Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh, several initiatives are being implemented to make Punjab drug-free. As a result, a large number of patients had already registered at de-addiction centers across Ferozepur district to begin their recovery journey.
However, the floods disrupted access for many patients from affected villages, causing difficulties in reaching de-addiction centers and creating gaps in the continuation of prescribed medicine courses. To address this, the Health Department organized a special medical camp at the Arifke relief base camp under the supervision of Civil Surgeon Dr. Rajwinder Kaur and Senior Medical Officer Dr. Raju Chauhan. During this camp, 37 pre-registered patients undergoing de-addiction treatment were provided with one week’s supply of medicines to ensure uninterrupted care.
Dr. Rajwinder Kaur stated that the Health Department is also conducting medical camps in relief camps and flood-affected villages to provide treatment, medicines, and healthcare facilities, including support for pregnant women. She emphasized that under the War Against Drugs campaign, special focus has been given to ensure that de-addiction patients from flood-hit villages continue their treatment smoothly. Along with medicines, counselling sessions were also held to keep patients mentally strong during the crisis.
District Mass Media Officer Sanjeev Sharma and Deputy Mass Media Officer Ankush Bhandari also spread awareness about preventing diseases that may spread due to floods.
