Pargat Singh Gill sets new record at 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championship at Chennai
Ferozepur, November 8, 2025: At the 23rd Asian Masters Athletics Championship being held in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Ferozepur’s Pargat Singh Gill brought laurels to India by setting a new Asian record in the Hammer Throw event. Competing in the 40+ age category, Gill recorded an impressive throw of 53.2 meters and clinched the gold medal. The championship, taking place from November 4 to 9, has drawn nearly 3,000 athletes from 32 countries.
It is noteworthy that Pargat Singh Gill had earlier set an Asian record in the 35+ age category in the Hammer Throw event during previous Asian Championships, also winning gold for the country.
Meanwhile, another athlete from Ferozepur, Pyara Singh Bhullar, secured two silver medals in the 75+ age category, in the 800-meter and 1500-meter races. India has sent a strong contingent of around 1,200 athletes to the ongoing championship.
Extending congratulations to the medal winners, Ferozepur Urban MLA Ranbir Bhullar, District Masters Athletics Association General Secretary Ishwar Das Sharma, President Dr. Gurinderjit Singh Dhillon, and several others praised the athletes for their remarkable achievements and conveyed best wishes for their future endeavours.
