Team Selection for 75th Junior National Basketball Championship: Sukhwinder Bindra Boosts Team’s Morale
Ludhiana, 31 December 2025 — The selection of the team for the 75th Junior National Basketball Championship was held today at Guru Nanak Stadium, Ludhiana. On this occasion, Sukhwinder Singh Bindra, Member (NISD) and Special Invitee/Member (NCCDR), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India, was present. DCP P.S. Bhandal was also present at the event.
Sukhwinder Singh Bindra congratulated the selected team and extended his best wishes for strong performances and victories in the upcoming matches. He emphasized the importance of sports in protecting the youth from drug abuse. He also stated that, in the coming time, sports kits would be distributed to encourage young people to stay away from drugs and move toward sports.
On this occasion, Sukhwinder Singh Bindra said that his department continuously works to keep youth away from drugs. He added that his department, along with the Union Minister for Social Justice & Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar, will continue to work for the welfare of youth, and that every possible effort will be made to ensure their well-being, development, and protection from drug abuse. He highlighted the crucial role of youth empowerment and awareness programs in preventing substance abuse.
While interacting with the players, Sukhwinder Singh Bindra shared that he had earlier served as State Chairperson, Punjab of the Punjab Youth Development Board (Government of Punjab). During his tenure, he carried out extensive work to steer youth away from drugs and toward sports. Free sports kits were regularly distributed to promote sports in youth clubs, colleges, and universities. In addition, whenever any player faced difficulties, solutions were provided so that no obstacles would arise in their sporting careers. He affirmed that even now, his department continues to provide full support to athletes.
In conclusion, Bindra expressed his gratitude to Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Cabinet Minister Dr. Virendra Kumar for their visionary leadership and their mission to empower the youth.
