Efforts by Sukhi Bath to promote child writers praised at Int'l Conference
‘Navian Kalman Navin Udaan’ inspires young authors at Int'l Conference
Ferozepur, May 6, 2026: The second one-day International Children’s Writers Conference concluded successfully at Cabriz International School, Phagwara, with eminent educationists and literary figures lauding initiatives to encourage young writers.
Dr. Amar Jyoti Mangat ‘Jyot’, President of the Ferozepur district team, appreciated the efforts of Sukhi Bath, founder of the “Navian Kalman Navin Udaan” project, for promoting children’s literature. He termed the initiative a milestone in nurturing young literary talent.
A delegation from Ferozepur district, led by District Education Officer (Secondary) Munila Arora, DEO (Elementary) Sunita Rani, Deputy DEO (Secondary) Dr. Satinder Singh (National Awardee), and Deputy DEO (Elementary) Komal Arora, participated in the event. Two students from the district—Jasmine Kaur (Class VIII) from Government Senior Secondary School, Rukna Begu, and Prabhjeet Kaur (Class VI) from Government Middle School, Patel Nagar—recited their self-composed poems, impressing the audience. Their preparation was guided by teachers Sudesh Rani and Davinder Kaur, with support from Principal Harphool Singh and BPEO Suman Deep.
The conference, held under the theme “Navian Kalman Navin Udaan,” was attended by distinguished personalities including Punjab School Education Board Chairman Dr. Amarpal Singh, Dr. Parvinder Singh (President, World Buddhist Federation), Dr. S.P. Singh (former Vice-Chancellor, Guru Nanak Dev University), and noted literary figures such as Prof. Gurbhajan Singh Gill and others.
Speakers highlighted that such large-scale efforts to promote children’s literature are rare and commendable. They emphasized the need to organize more such conferences to cultivate literary interest among students from an early age.
It was also shared that under the project, 71 books by child writers have already been published, while 19 new books were released during the conference, including contributions from Pakistan, England, and France. From Ferozepur alone, a compilation featuring 99 poems and articles by 62 students has already been published, with work underway on a second volume.
Project in-charge Onkar Singh Teje elaborated on activities undertaken to inspire students towards literature. The event also witnessed the presence of team members, teachers, parents, and young participants.
