3rd SRNL Memorial Declamation Contest empowers young minds in Ferozepur
Ferozepur, August 4, 2025: As part of its ongoing social initiatives, the Lions Club Border Ferozepur successfully organised the 3rd Shadi Ram Nand Lal Memorial Declamation Contest, aimed at encouraging students to speak out on pressing contemporary issues. The event was held under the leadership of Club President Lion Gagandeep Singh Josan and his dedicated team.
A total of 55 students from Classes 8 to 12 representing eight reputed schools across Ferozepur — including Shanti Vidya Mandir, Jogindera Convent School, Arun Jyoti Model School, DC Model School, Das & Brown School, DC Model International School, Vivekanand World School, and RSD School — participated in the competition.
Students delivered passionate speeches on a variety of current and socially relevant topics such as: Pros and cons of online teaching, the role of State-sponsored terrorism, the Right to vote – universal adult franchise, Importance of Mental and Physical health to students – Stress Management, Artificial Intelligence and Terrorism’s impact on socio-economic development.
The contest was judged by Dr. Rajinder Kaur Sooch and Harish Monga. The judges evaluated students on content, clarity of thought, expression, and their ability to conclude their viewpoint with authority.
Before announcing the winners, both judges provided valuable feedback and post-event tips to participants, encouraging them to reflect on their performance, enhance clarity in communication, maintain audience engagement, and accept feedback constructively.
“Your voice has the power to inspire change. Keep speaking up, keep improving, and always stay curious. The world needs informed, thoughtful young speakers,” remarked Dr. Rajinder Kaur Sooch.
In the final results, First and second Prize: Vansh Sharma, Shanti Vidya Mandir, Second Prize: Vanshpreet, Shanti Vidya Mandir, Third Prize: Komalpreet Kaur, DC Model School, Consolation Prizes: Nishtha Sharma, Shanti Vidya Mandir; Neemrat Kaur, RSD School.
All participants were awarded certificates, a book titled Law Points by Dr. Rohit Garg, and gifts. The top winners also received cash prizes and trophies.

The event saw the gracious presence and support of the Trustees of Shadi Ram Nand Lal Memorial Trust — Chairperson Kulbhushan Garg and Secretary Ashok Kumar Garg — along with several Lions Club members including Lion Ashwani Sharma, Lion Mohit Garg, Lion Deepak Gupta, Lion Gurpreet Singh Kharbanda, Lion Ashish Sharma (Region Chairperson), Lion Ashish Aggarwal, Dr. Lion Rohit Garg, Lion Sauravi Puri, Lion Ankur Chopra, Lion Luv Chhabra, Lion Nikhil Mittal, Lion Ritesh Mittal, and Dr. Lion Gaurav Luthra. Their combined efforts ensured the event’s grand success in promoting youth engagement and awareness through public speaking.
