Bomb threat via e-mail triggers evacuation at Ferozepur Court; No explosives found
Ferozepur, April 6, 2026: Panic gripped the District Court Complex in Ferozepur on Monday after a threatening email warning of a bomb blast was received at the court’s official e-mail ID in the moring, prompting immediate action from the police and administration, which was later proved to be a hoax.
Acting swiftly, authorities evacuated the entire court premises as a precautionary measure. Judges, court staff, lawyers, and litigants were asked to vacate the complex, while entry and exit gates were sealed to ensure safety.
According to police officials, the email threatening to blow up the court complex was received earlier in the day. Teams rushed to the spot and began a thorough search operation. The entire complex, from basement areas to courtrooms and open spaces—was meticulously checked with the help of bomb disposal squads and other investigation units.
Speaking on the situation, the SP (Headquarters) stated that the information regarding the threat was taken seriously, and the complex was immediately cleared. “A detailed search of the entire court complex was carried out. We are also investigating the origin of the email—who sent it and from where,” the officer said.
Police further revealed that a similar bomb threat email had been received 1–2 months ago, which later turned out to be a hoax. Officials added that tracing such emails can sometimes be challenging, but efforts are on going to identify those responsible.
As of now, no suspicious object has been recovered, and investigations are still in progress. Authorities have assured that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure public safety.
Notably, a similar incident had occurred earlier this year on January 8, 2026, when the Ferozepur judicial complex was evacuated following a bomb threat email. Around 150 police personnel had conducted a detailed search, but nothing incriminating was discovered. Comparable threats were also reported in Moga, Ropar, and parts of Himachal Pradesh around the same time. There had also been blast outside the BJP office in Chandigarh but no one was hurt and later on 7 suspected have been arrested.
