Cancer Awareness Programme Held at Harmony Ayurvedic Medical College
Ferozepur: March 12, 2026: A cancer awareness programme was organized at the seminar hall of Harmony Ayurvedic Medical College and Hospital. On this occasion, Dr. Rajat Ratan from the Cancer Department of Medanta – The Medicity attended as the keynote speaker. He was accompanied by Assistant Manager Gagandeep Singh.
On their arrival at the college, Chairman Dharmapal Bansal, Director Yogesh Bansal, Chairperson Kiran Bansal and Principal Dr. Suman Lata warmly welcomed the guests. The programme began with the traditional lighting of the ceremonial lamp.
Addressing the students and participants, Dr. Rajat Ratan explained in detail about cancer, describing it as a disease caused by the uncontrolled growth of cells in the body. He emphasized that early identification of symptoms and timely medical check-ups can make the disease treatable.
He informed that symptoms such as the formation of lumps in the body, persistent cough, sudden weight loss, unusual bleeding, prolonged weakness and wounds that do not heal for a long time could be possible warning signs of cancer.
Dr. Ratan also highlighted the importance of adopting a healthy lifestyle to prevent the disease. He advised people to stay away from tobacco and smoking, maintain a balanced and nutritious diet, exercise regularly and undergo periodic health check-ups. He further explained that diagnostic tests such as biopsy, CT scan, MRI and blood tests help in early detection and timely treatment of cancer.
During the event, special guests Parminder Thind and Naresh Sharma were also welcomed by the college management. The programme was conducted by Dr. Anoja Bhaskar under the guidance of Principal Dr. Suman Lata, while Dr. Shikha Sikri presented the vote of thanks. Faculty members and non-teaching staff of the college were also present on the occasion.
