DM Randhawa Suicide Case: BJP protests against Punjab Govt
Babushahi Bureau
Amritsar (Punjab), April 4, 2026:The alleged suicide of District Manager Gagandeep Singh Randhawa has triggered a major political controversy in Punjab, with the Bharatiya Janata Party staging a strong protest against the state government led by Bhagwant Mann.
BJP leaders accused the government of fostering an environment of corruption and political pressure, claiming that honest officials are being pushed to extreme steps.
The protest witnessed the participation of Punjab BJP chief Sunil Jakhar, working president Ashwani Sharma, and Union Minister Ravneet Singh Bittu.
Raising slogans against the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, BJP leaders termed the state government a “failure on all fronts.” They directly held Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar responsible for Randhawa’s death, demanding his immediate removal from both the party and his legislative position.
Sunil Jakhar alleged that Punjab is witnessing a breakdown of governance, with rising incidents of crime creating fear among citizens. He further claimed that corruption within the system has reached alarming levels, forcing officials to either resign or take drastic steps like Randhawa.
Echoing similar sentiments, Ravneet Singh Bittu criticized the government, saying that the administration, which came to power on the promise of “change,” has failed to ensure the safety and dignity of its own employees.
