Deadline for one-time property tax settlement scheme extended

Phagwara (Punjab), August 6, 2025: Dr. Akshita Gupta, Commissioner of the Municipal Corporation Phagwara, has announced an important update regarding the "One Time Settlement (OTS) Policy – 2025" for property tax.
The Punjab Government has extended the deadline for this major relief initiative under the Department of Local Government, aimed at easing the financial burden on taxpayers with pending property dues.
Under the revised policy:
- Complete penalty and interest waiver will be granted to those who clear their original property tax dues in a lump sum by August 15, 2025.
- Fifty percent exemption on penalty and interest will be available for payments made between August 16 and October 31, 2025.
- From November 1, 2025, no exemption will apply, and the outstanding amount will attract full penalty and interest as per the Punjab Municipal Act, 1911 and Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976.The scheme offers a timely opportunity for residents to clear their dues without extra financial burden, while helping municipal bodies recover long-pending revenue.
Mayor Ram Pal Uppal praised the Aam Aadmi Party-led government’s initiative, calling it a citizen-friendly step under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann.He urged Phagwara residents to make full use of the scheme and deposit their dues at the Municipal Corporation office before the deadlines.
