Ferozepur Police nab five youths in major drug bust; Over 13 kg heroin, weapons recovered
Ferozepur, August 2, 2025: In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Ferozepur police arrested five drug peddlers of the age of 19 to 30 years and recovered a total of 13.021 kg of heroin, a pistol with dismantled parts, and eight live cartridges in two separate incidents.
SSP Bhupinder Singh Sidhu informed that in four different cases, 13.021 kg heroin was recovered. In the first case, 400 kg poppy husk and one truck was recovered from Harjinder Singh (30), Gurvinder Singh (44) from Behak Pachiarian, in the second case, 8.301 kg heroin, one motorcycle and in the third case, 4.720 kg heroin, one Activa vehicle from Gurpreet Singh alias Gori(19), Gurpreet Singh alias Kali (23) and one dismantled pistol with open parts, 8 live cartridges, from Jograj Singh alias Samar (27) and 9 motorcycles, one Active from village Gill from Sarabjit Singh alias Guri (24) and Avtar Singh alias Pinku (23). He reported that the drugs were being transported by hiding with the pulses. However, all the five accused have been arrested.
The accused Harjinder Singh is already facing 6 criminal cases under NDPS Act at Zira PS, Sarabjit Singh Alias Guri in thre cases at Ghall Khurd PS under Section 303(2) BNS and two at Faridkot under Sections 454, 380, 379 and 411 and Avtar Singh also in three cases under Sections 303(20 of BNS and two cases at Talwandi Bhai under Section 411 and NDPS Act.
SSP Bhupinder Singh informed that from March 1 to date, 814 cases were registered, 1035 accused were arrested, 149.43 kg heroin, 8.911 kg opium, 1021.628 kg poppy husk, 25 gm powder, 25255, tablets, Rs.82.89 lac drug money besides 39 weapons, 261 cartridges, 3 drones and 2 remotes.
He further said that further investigation is underway. However, such operations against drug peddlers will be further intensified to make the district drug-free.
