Chandigarh, October 4, 2025: The Union Ministry of Home Affairs on Saturday issued transfer orders for two senior IAS officers of the Arunachal Pradesh-Goa-Mizoram and Union Territories (AGMUT) cadre, bringing significant administrative changes to the Chandigarh administration.
According to order, H. Rajesh Prasad, a 1995-batch IAS officer currently serving in Jammu and Kashmir, has been appointed as the new Chief Secretary of Chandigarh, effective immediately.
In another major move, Ankur Garg, a 2003-batch IAS officer serving in Arunachal Pradesh, has been appointed as Advisor to the Administrator of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu (DN&DD). Prasad’s appointment as Chief Secretary is seen as a crucial step for Chandigarh, which serves as the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana.
The city faces pressing challenges in urban development, infrastructure expansion, and administrative reforms. Known for his expertise in handling sensitive postings in Delhi and Jammu & Kashmir, Prasad is expected to play a pivotal role in addressing these issues effectively.
