  Chandigarh, August 9, 2025 — The Meteorological Department has issued a heavy rain alert for multiple districts in Punjab, warning of moderate rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph.
  
  The districts under alert include Sangrur, Patiala, Fatehgarh Sahib, Ludhiana, Rupnagar, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar, and Hoshiarpur.
  
  Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors during thunderstorms and take necessary precautions to avoid any mishaps.
