Lucky Oberoi Murder Case: DGP Gaurav visits scene of crime; Assures exemplary punishment to perpetrators

Jalandhar (Punjab), February 6, 2026: Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Friday visited Jalandhar and held a high-level meeting with senior police officers to review the investigation into the murder of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) functionary Satwinderpal Singh alias Lucky Oberoi. The DGP also inspected the crime scene to take a firsthand assessment of the case.
Speaking to the media at the site, DGP Gaurav Yadav reiterated the Bhagwant Mann-led Punjab government’s firm commitment to maintaining law and order, assuring that those responsible for the crime will be arrested and punished strictly in accordance with the law. He was accompanied by Jalandhar Commissioner of Police (CP) Dhanpreet Kaur.
“Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is personally monitoring the case and is being regularly updated on all developments,” the DGP said.
According to police, Satwinderpal Singh alias Lucky Oberoi was shot by unidentified assailants riding a white Activa scooter on Friday morning at the Gurudwara Singh Sabha parking area in Model Town, Jalandhar, while he was leaving after paying obeisance. He later succumbed to his injuries.
DGP Gaurav Yadav said the investigation is being carried out in a professional and scientific manner. “All forward and backward movements of the suspects are being tracked, and every possible angle is being examined,” he said.
He added that police teams have collected mobile tower dump data to strengthen the technical analysis. “All theories related to the crime are under active investigation,” the DGP stated.
CP Dhanpreet Kaur said preliminary findings suggest that the two accused, wearing black hoodies, fled the scene on their Activa scooter. Further investigations are underway.
In this connection, FIR No. 25 dated February 6, 2026, has been registered under Sections 103(1), 3(5) and 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), along with Sections 25 and 27 of the Arms Act, at Police Station Division 6, Jalandhar Commissionerate.
