Ludhiana: Body of unidentified youth found near tubewell

Ludhiana (Punjab), July 10, 2025 — Panic gripped the Ashok Nagar area of Ludhiana on Thursday morning after the lifeless body of a young man was discovered near a tubewell adjacent to Lane Number 4 under suspicious circumstances. Alarmed by the condition of the body, local residents immediately alerted the police.
A team from Salem Tabri police station, led by Sub-Inspectors Balbir Singh and Harmesh Lal, rushed to the scene, took custody of the body, and began a formal investigation.
Unidentified Youth, Suspected Drug Overdose
The deceased, believed to be around 30 years old, remains unidentified as of now. Police officials noted that the face of the deceased had turned blue, raising suspicions of a possible drug overdose as the cause of death.
The body has been shifted to the mortuary of the Civil Hospital and will be preserved for 72 hours in hopes of identification. The exact cause of death will be determined following a post-mortem examination.
Area in Shock, Multiple Theories Emerge
The sudden discovery sparked fear and speculation throughout the neighborhood. Some residents claimed the man was not from the area, while others reported having seen him in the locality recently.
The police are scanning nearby CCTV footage and questioning locals to gather more information. Investigators are probing all angles, including foul play and substance abuse. The case remains under active investigation.
