Mohali (Punjab), February 7, 2026: Senior Shiromani Akali Dal leader Bikram Singh Majithia appeared before a Mohali court on Friday. After hearing arguments from both sides, the court fixed the next date of hearing for March 7, 2026.
Speaking to reporters after the hearing, Majithia levelled serious allegations against the Punjab Chief Minister, accusing the government of violating his personal security and human rights during his incarceration.
He told the court that attempts were made to completely strip him of his privacy in jail, claiming that cameras were installed all around him, even inside the bathroom, which were later removed following the intervention of the High Court.
Majithia alleged that such actions were taken out of fear that he might speak against Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He further claimed that he was not even allowed to take copies of legal documents provided to him on Friday.
Launching a sharp attack on the state government, Majithia said Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has failed on all fronts and should resign immediately.
Reacting to the visit of teams from the Bhakra Beas Management Board (BBMB) and the Central Water Commission to Punjab, Majithia asserted that Punjab alone has the right over its water resources. “The water belongs to Punjab, and only Punjab has rights over it. The visit of any central or water commission is meaningless. The government has failed to protect Punjab’s interests,” he said.
The court has now listed the matter for further hearing on March 7, 2026.
