Jalandhar (Punjab), July 10, 2025: A tragic road accident early Thursday morning on the Jalandhar-Pathankot National Highway near Bogpur has left one person dead on the spot, sending shockwaves among passersby.
The incident occurred near Raipur Rasulpur village in the Maksoodan police station limits, when a high-speed Hyundai Verna lost control at the infamous "Tokri Morh" turn and overturned violently.
According to police sources, the accident took place at dawn while the vehicle was headed towards Jalandhar from the Bogpur side. Due to high speed, the driver reportedly lost control near a sharp bend, causing the car to flip. Nearby commuters quickly alerted Police Helpline 112 and the Special Security Force (SSF). Sub-Inspector Rajinder Singh from Maksoodan Police Station arrived at the scene with his team and initiated an investigation.
The deceased was identified as 30-year-old Harmanjot Saini, son of Surinder Singh, a resident near Bansal Gas Agency in Pathankot. His body was sent to the Pathankot Civil Hospital mortuary.
Police have begun examining CCTV footage from the area and will also analyze the driver's mobile phone for clues. Meanwhile, traffic is being regulated around the accident site to avoid further congestion, with diversions in place.
Officials have appealed to all commuters and highway travelers to avoid overspeeding, ensure that their vehicle’s brakes, tires, and lights are checked before driving, and maintain control especially around sharp turns.
