Token System Introduced at Jalandhar Driving Test Track to Ease Applicant Rush: Mohinder Bhagat
New Driving Track Planned in Nakodar to Reduce Load
Jalandhar, July 17, 2025 –
To provide relief to applicants amid ongoing technical glitches, Punjab Horticulture Minister Mohinder Bhagat on Thursday announced the introduction of a token system at the Jalandhar driving test track near the Bus Stand. The new system will allow applicants to wait for their turn in a designated waiting room, instead of queuing under the sun.
During a visit to the facility, accompanied by Regional Transport Officer Amanpal Singh, the Minister reviewed issues caused by server-related delays and assured applicants that the token system would streamline the process and offer them a more dignified experience. He also issued directions for proper seating and drinking water arrangements in the waiting area.
Taking prompt steps to address operational gaps, Bhagat said data entry operators will soon be appointed to support smooth functioning at the test track. He emphasized that the Punjab Government under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is committed to providing efficient, transparent public services.
To further reduce congestion at the Jalandhar facility, a new driving test track will be established in Nakodar Sub Division, catering to applicants from Nakodar, Shahkot, Mehatpur, and Malsian. The Transport Department is in the process of identifying suitable land for the project, and setup will begin shortly.
Bhagat also interacted with applicants on the spot to listen to their concerns and reiterated the government’s commitment to citizen-centric governance, highlighting ongoing initiatives such as ‘Sarkar Tuhade Dwar’ to strengthen grassroots delivery of services.
