Chandigarh, September 29, 2025 – Union Minister of State for Railways and Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh launched a sharp attack on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, accusing him of displaying “blatant double standards” in governance and public communication.
Speaking to the media after attending the Punjab Vidhan Sabha session, Ravneet Singh questioned the CM’s contradictory stance—allowing a resolution against the Prime Minister in the Assembly while simultaneously scheduling a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
“The Chief Minister should be ashamed of this hypocrisy. You cannot insult the Prime Minister in the Assembly and then go running to the Home Minister for help. The people of Punjab can clearly see through this double-faced politics,” Singh said.
The Union Minister emphasized that the Government of India is fully committed to supporting Punjab, particularly in flood relief and rehabilitation. He criticized statements made by ruling party ministers in the Assembly claiming Punjab did not need central assistance.
“Is Punjab not a part of India? Why should we forgo our rightful share?” he asked.
Singh added that he has repeatedly urged CM Mann to personally meet the Union Home Minister, noting that all central agency reports concerning Punjab are first routed through the Ministry of Home Affairs before reaching the Prime Minister’s Office.
On the BJP’s mock Vidhan Sabha session, Singh defended the move, arguing that it was the only way to highlight the flood crisis after BJP leaders were given just three minutes to speak in the Assembly.
“When our working president Ashwani Sharma, whose constituency suffered immense devastation, was denied adequate time, what other option was left? In fact, it was ironic that even as the official session continued, all members—including the Leader of the House—were watching the BJP’s mock session,” he remarked.
Singh concluded that the incident showed the rising importance of the BJP in Punjab’s politics:
“This clearly shows the seriousness with which BJP is now being taken in Punjab. The writing is on the wall.”
