Amritsar, December 24,2020:
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has expanded its Information Technology (IT) Department to spread the word about the activities and achievements of the SGPC through social media.
This new IT Department will ensure publicity of the activities related to the SGPC through various social media platforms said the SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur while inaugurating the new office at Amritsar on Thursday.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said, “The services of the SGPC are immense and the IT Department has been strengthened to reach out to the sangat. About 20 employees have been recruited from the field of information technology and there are plans to set up a studio soon. The recruited employees include anchors, writers, video editors, graphic designers, cameramen, media volunteers, etc.”
SGPC president said that besides publicity and preaching of the Sikh religion, the social, educational and public welfare activities of the organization were required to reach out to the sangat and it is the need of the time. She added that social media has become an effective tool for the same.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that in future serious discussions on Sikh religion, history and national issues would also be initiated.
She added that for setting up the IT Department, the devotees of Guru Ghar (Guru’s home) S. Satpal Singh Multani of Richie Travel Jalandhar and S. Manmohan Singh Kapurthala have done a great help. “These devotees have provided all the necessary equipment for this department at a cost of about Rs 30 lakhs”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.
She further added that SGPC is an institution of the sangat and it is important for the sangat to be aware of its functions and activities.
On this occasion SGPC members S. Gurmeet Singh Booh, Bhai Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, S. Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, S. Sukhminder Singh, OSD Dr Amrik Singh, Dr Sukhbir Singh, and superintendent S Malkit Singh Beharwal and others were present.
