Black Fungus knocked in Ferozepur, 4 cases reported
Ferozepur, May 27, 2021: In Ferozepur, first four cases of Black Fungus – Mucormycosis – have been reported today.
The black fungus infection has now become more challenging than Covid-19. If patients are not treated in time and properly, than the mortality rate could be too high.
Ever since the first few cases of black fungus had been reported, there has been extensive media coverage about it. This has led to fear and confusion among the public about its causes and effects. Mucormycosis, colloquially known as the black fungus, has aggravated the devastating effects of the second wave of the COVID pandemic.
Out of this, 2 have been admitted in the hospital, one cured while one has died. One 50 year old person of Kari Kalan village was under treatment at Faridkot Medical College and during the treatment he became victim of Black Fungus, who later on died. Another person was shifted to Medical College Bathinda and during treatment, his eye has to be removed but condition was stated to be stable. One teacher in Ferozepur Block also become victim of Black Fungus and earlier he had recovered from Covid-19 infection. Due to high sugar level and later on after CT Scan and other tests, he was found infected with Black Fungus who was shifted to Mohali hospital where he was operated upon and still under treatment.
CMO has advised that to be safe from Black Fungus, the sugar patients should avoid taking steroids.
