New Delhi, May 5, 2025: The United Nations Security Council will hold closed consultations today to discuss tensions between India and Pakistan. Greece which holds Presidency for the month of May has scheduled today’s meeting on a request for Pakistan.
It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan's foreign office had yesterday claimed that it would brief the UN on regional developments in the wake of the Pahalgam terror attack, including the suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty by India.
Apart from the five veto-wielding permanent members -- China, France, Russia, UK and the US -- the 10 non-permanent members in the Council are Algeria, Denmark, Greece, Guyana, Pakistan, Panama, South Korea, Sierra Leone, Slovenia and Somalia.
