Government Urged to Resolve Private Schools’ Recognition Crisis – Kulbhushan Sharma
Chandigarh: May 8, 2025:
Kulbhushan Sharma, State President of the Federation of Private Schools Welfare Association and National President of NISA, called for a permanent solution to the persistent issue of unrecognized private schools during a press conference at the Chandigarh Press Club. He highlighted that many schools have faced unresolved Aadhaar-related cases for over 20 years, creating annual uncertainty during admissions and board exams. This diverts their focus from enhancing education to pleading with officials for operational continuity.
Sharma reminded that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), in power in Haryana for over a decade, promised in its manifesto to resolve this issue. Yet, thousands of private schools still await action. He appealed to Chief Minister Naib Singh Saini to meet with school representatives promptly to address their plight, noting the CM’s recent efforts to support other sectors.
In discussions with Education Minister Mahipal Dhanda, private schools have consistently raised their challenges. Sharma proposed that schools functioning before 2011 be recognized under the Right to Education Act based on existing infrastructure, integrating them into the mainstream system. Schools struggling to meet norms should be given time and allowed to relocate under previous regulations.
Sharma condemned the alleged harassment by district officials, who, citing specific orders, pressure school authorities with threats of FIRs. He urged the Chief Minister and Education Minister to intervene, halt such actions, and engage directly with schools to deliver a fair, lasting resolution.
