Vice-President Jagdeep Dhankhar releases Haryana Governor’s book ‘Janta Ki Kahani – Meri Aatamkatha’
The book, written by Governor Bandaru Dattatraya, is based on important moments of his personal and political life

Chandigarh, May 9, 2025 – Vice President of India Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar today released the book ‘Janta Ki Kahani – Meri Aatamkatha’ written by Haryana Governor Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya, which is his autobiography.
During the ceremony organized at Maharashtra Sadan in Delhi, Jagdeep Dhankhar honoured Governor Sh. Bandaru Dattatraya and his wife Vasantha Bandaru by presenting them shawls.
During the programme, a two-minute silence was observed to pay tribute to the citizens who lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir.
On this occasion, Sh. Jagdeep Dhankhar said this book gives a glimpse of the struggles of public life.He said that India has devised ways to turn challenges into opportunities, that is why today India has emerged as the fourth largest economy of the world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown the strength of India to the whole world after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Our Army has increased the pride and dignity of Indians. 'Bharatiyata' is our identity and nationalism is paramount for us.
The Governor said character, dedication and conviction are the three important aspects of life. By working on these aspects, every challenge of life can be faced. He said experiences of his life have been compiled in detail in this book which will always be inspirational for the generations to come.
The important moments of his personal and political life have been beautifully compiled in the book. This book shows a glimpse of his administrative efficiency as a Union Minister and dedication to the service of people as a public representative.
He said he is not a writer and poet but the experiences he got during the Covid time have been compiled in the book through audio recording.Dattatraya said his life has always been dedicated to the welfare of the common society. He thanked and congratulated everyone for attending the programme.
He said he gives the credit to his mother Eshwaramma ji, due to whose efforts he devoted his life to social work, especially slum development and disaster relief efforts. His dedication reflects his commitment towards social welfare by being associated with cultural and voluntary organizations.

Union Minister for Power, Housing and Urban Affairs Sh. Manohar Lal said this book showcases the story of a simple human being. Sharing his experiences, he said when Sh. Dattatraya was the Labour Minister in the Cabinet of former Prime Minister Sh. Atal Bihari Vajpayee ji, he got the opportunity to meet him. Apart from this, the experience of working under his guidance while Sh. Manohar Lal was the Chief Minister of Haryana was also commendable.
Sh. Manohar Lal said the Governor is truly an epitome of humility, who has always worked for social service and public welfare. He said many aspects and experiences of party workers are written in this book, so people must read it.
Book not just a piece of literature but a source of inspiration: CM
The Chief Minister, while addressing the function, said this is not a book but a living document, which shows the journey of the Governor’s struggle, service, dedication and service to the society, which turns a person from ordinary to extraordinary. He said he was feeling proud to have participated in this programme.
He also congratulated the Governor on the occasion. He said the title of this book itself tells that it is not just a description of life but an experience of connecting with the common people and fighting for them. This book is not just literature but a source of inspiration.
