ACIC RISE Association, CGC Landran Organizes Workshop on ‘Patent to Product: Bridging Innovation and Market’

The ACIC RISE Association at CGC Landran recently hosted a comprehensive day-long workshop titled ‘Patent to Product: Bridging Innovation and Market’, aimed at empowering startups, students, and faculty members with essential knowledge on technology transfer and commercialization.
This interactive workshop was designed to demystify the entire journey of taking innovations from the laboratory stage to the marketplace. Key topics covered included invention disclosure, technology readiness levels, intellectual property (IP) commercialization, and effective pitching techniques to attract investors.
The event featured distinguished experts such as Dr. Deepak Kapoor, Senior Scientist at the IPR Facilitation Division of PSCST Chandigarh and the Guest of Honour, as well as Dr. Saurabh Arora, Technology Transfer Officer from IIT Ropar. Both speakers drew on their extensive experience, sharing real-life case studies and best practices that provided deep insights to participants involved in research, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
The workshop began with inaugural addresses by Prof. (Dr.) Neha Sharma, Dean Research of ACIC RISE Association, CGC Landran; Dr. Rajdeep Singh, Campus Director of CGC Landran; and the Guest of Honour, Dr. Deepak Kapoor. In his address, Dr. Rajdeep Singh emphasized CGC Landran’s philosophy: “Innovation truly reaches its potential when it benefits society. This workshop bridges the divide between research and real-world application and equips innovators with tools to bring ideas to life in the market.”
Dr. Kapoor conducted engaging sessions on technology transfer and IP commercialization, explaining its importance, challenges faced by academia, and key aspects of invention disclosure and evaluation. Dr. Arora’s sessions focused on understanding technology readiness levels, the art of pitching to industry leaders and investors, and the varied pathways for technology commercialization such as licensing agreements, startups, and joint ventures, including insights on licensing terms.
The concluding session, also by Dr. Arora, featured impactful case studies and success stories of technology transfers, providing participants with a practical understanding of moving ideas from concept to commercialization.
The workshop ended with the felicitation of the expert speakers followed by a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. (Dr.) Dinesh Arora, Head of IPR at CGC Landran.
This workshop was a valuable initiative reinforcing CGC Landran’s dedication towards nurturing innovation, research excellence, and entrepreneurial success among its academic community.
