Chandigarh, July 31, 2025 —
The Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, is set to reinforce Anganwadi services with people-centric reforms aimed at empowering frontline workers and enhancing outreach. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur announced that the recruitment for over 5,000 vacant posts of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers will be completed by September 30, 2025, marking a significant stride in strengthening the state's child welfare infrastructure.
Dr. Baljit Kaur detailed a special schedule from July 23 to August 15 for key personnel actions, including promotions, transfers, and compassionate appointments for Anganwadi staff. Appointment processing for dependents of deceased Anganwadi workers will be conducted from August 1 to 8, with transfers and adjustments finalized before August 15.
In a landmark policy decision, the government will, for the first time, extend government job opportunities to dependents of Anganwadi Workers or Helpers who have suffered permanent disability or become unfit for work due to terminal illness during their service tenure.
The Cabinet Minister emphasized that these measures reflect more than administrative reforms—they symbolize a commitment rooted in justice, empathy, and accountable governance. “Our frontline workers are the backbone of social welfare. The Mann government is dedicated to protecting their rights and ensuring their motivation and welfare,” she said.
Dr. Kaur also announced that advertisements inviting applications for the vacancies will be published on August 22, with the last date for submissions set on September 22. The recruitment will be conducted in a transparent manner strictly based on merit, leaving no room for favoritism or external interference.
She concluded by underscoring that these initiatives represent a transformative social commitment extending beyond mere recruitments. “Through these efforts, the Punjab Government is catalyzing grassroots transformation in Anganwadi services and improving the lives of women and children state-wide. This is a bold and compassionate step toward building a just and progressive Punjab.”
Senior officials and stakeholders in social welfare have welcomed these reforms, recognizing them as vital for enhancing early childhood development and women’s empowerment across Punjab.
