New Delhi, August 4, 2025: In a major security lapse in the heart of the national capital, Congress MP R. Sudha from Tamil Nadu’s Mayiladuthurai Lok Sabha constituency became the victim of a shocking chain-snatching incident while on a morning walk in a high-security area.
The incident, which has sent shockwaves through political circles, occurred when an unidentified bike-borne miscreant snatched her gold chain and fled the scene.
The MP, who is currently residing at Tamil Nadu House due to her official accommodation being under preparation, was reportedly alone at the time of the attack.
Raising strong objections over the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi, MP Sudha has written a letter directly to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressing deep concern about the safety of public representatives, especially in VIP zones.
In her letter, she pointed out that she has been in the capital regularly for parliamentary work and constitutional duties and yet faced such a traumatic incident in broad daylight.
“This is not just a personal violation but a matter of national concern, reflecting poorly on the capital’s security environment. I demand swift and decisive action,” the MP wrote.
The incident has sparked widespread political reactions, with opposition leaders questioning the effectiveness of Delhi Police and overall VVIP security protocols. So far, there has been no official statement from the Delhi Police or the Ministry of Home Affairs.
