Chandigarh, August 4, 2025 – Haryana's Energy, Transport, and Labor Minister, Anil Vij, launched a sharp verbal attack on the opposition and spoke at length on religious and political matters during a media interaction today.
Commenting on the ongoing controversy around religious storytellers, Vij said, “People should not listen to kathavachaks (storytellers), but should instead heed the wisdom of saints, who alone can speak the ultimate truth.”
He emphasized that there is a fundamental difference between a kathavachak and a saint, stating that anyone can become a storyteller by reading a few books, but saints attain their stature through renunciation, penance, and spiritual realization.
He also took a swipe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, referencing recent reports that RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav holds two voter ID cards.
“The fuse of Rahul Gandhi’s bomb has blown with the exposure of Tejashwi Yadav’s two voter cards. If he has two, perhaps his workers have hundreds,” said Vij, adding, “I’ve been saying from day one that fake leaders are lobbying for fake voters in Bihar.”
On platform X earlier in the day, Vij reiterated his stand, writing: “There is a big difference between a storyteller and a saint. Anyone can become a storyteller after reading a few books, but a saint is someone who has achieved spiritual oneness with God. People must stop following storytellers and start listening to saints.”
Responding to questions about his upcoming statewide tour beginning August 15, Vij denied any internal party dissatisfaction.
“No one can be a bigger devotee of the Bharatiya Janata Party than me,” he said.
“I am the most senior MLA in Haryana, having won seven elections. I will soon visit workers across the state and energize them to work day and night for the party.”
He confirmed that responsibilities have been allocated for all 42 assembly constituencies and said that workers from every corner of Haryana have been reaching out to him. “I will meet all of them and boost their morale,” he added.
