Drone recovered near Ferozepur Border: Probe on for sources, payload
Ferozepur, August 3, 2025: In a significant recovery along the Indo-Pak border, the Border Security Force (BSF) personnel of 155 Battalion recovered a drone near the BOP Barrier post in Ferozepur on August 2. The recovered drone is identified as a DJI Mavic 3 Classic model.
As per official communication from the 'C' Company Commander of 155 BN BSF, Mahesh Kumar Verma, an FIR (No. A/OPS/FIR/155/2025/310) has been registered under sections 10, 11, and 12 of the Aircraft Act, 1934. An unidentified person has been booked in connection with the case, and further investigation is ongoing.
Security agencies are now focused on determining whether the drone was used to drop any illegal or suspicious substance in the area.
Sukhbir Bath, IO, informed that a thorough search operation is underway in the vicinity of the recovery site to ascertain any payload or message possibly dropped by the drone, besides technical teams' efforts to retrieve data from the drone and trace its flight path.
BSF officials have reiterated their commitment to border security and stated that the attempt, if found to be part of a cross-border smuggling operation, will be dealt with strictly.
