Sutlej below danger mark; no threat to embankments, DC visits Tendi Wala village late night
Ferozepur, August 19, 2025: A late-night visit to Tendi Wala village was paid by Deputy Commissioner Deepshikha Sharma, accompanied by Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Nidhi Kumud Bambah, to review the situation caused by the rising water level in the Sutlej River.
The DC said the state government and district administration are continuously monitoring the situation and are fully prepared to tackle any flood-like conditions. She added that reports of soil erosion due to the strong water flow were promptly addressed, with the Rural Development Department deploying labourers to reinforce embankments using soil bags. More manpower, including skilled labour from the Drainage Department, will be pressed into service to strengthen the embankments further.
While the Sutlej’s water level has risen compared to last week, it still remains below the danger mark, and there is no threat to the district’s embankments, the DC clarified. She also interacted with residents, listened to their concerns, and assured them of all possible assistance. The Health Department has already set up medical camps in riverside villages to ensure people face no inconvenience.
Appealing to residents not to believe or spread rumours regarding floods, the DC advised them to contact the District Flood Control Room at 01632-244017 for any help or information.
