Breaking: High Court clears film on Chief Minister, set to release soon

Mumbai (Maharashtra), August 25, 2025: The Bombay High Court has cleared the release of the film ‘Ajay: The Untold Story of a Yogi’, based on the life of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. With the court’s green signal, the producers are now awaiting a copy of the order before announcing the new release date.
The film had been stalled after the Censor Board raised 29 objections over certain scenes, dialogues, and even the title, calling them “provocative” and offensive to some communities. The producers accused the board of deliberate delays, prompting them to move the High Court.
In a rare move, the judges watched the film themselves before ruling in favor of the producers, thereby clearing its release.
Based on Shantanu Gupta’s book ‘The Monk Who Became Chief Minister’, the biopic traces Yogi Adityanath’s journey from childhood to becoming CM. Actor Anant V Joshi plays the lead, alongside Paresh Rawal and Dineshlal Yadav ‘Nirahua’.
The film was originally slated for release on August 1, 2025, but was delayed due to the censor dispute. A new release date will be announced soon.
