Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, MLA Narinder Pal distribute relief material in flood-hit villages

Fazilka (Punjab), August 25: Punjab Cabinet Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur and Fazilka MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna today reached the flood-affected villages of Teja Ruhela and Chakk Ruhela, where they personally distributed relief material, including cattle feed, to support the affected families.
Dr. Baljit Kaur said that following heavy rainfall in the hills, about 1.7 lakh cusecs of water had been released from Harike Headworks, which is expected to raise the water level in Fazilka through Sutlej Creek by tomorrow. She appealed to residents to shift women, children, and the elderly to safer locations without delay.
The Minister informed that, on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, relief camps have been set up across the district. Teams from the Health, Animal Husbandry, Water Supply & Sanitation, and Revenue Departments are actively working in affected areas. Special arrangements are being made for pregnant women, lactating mothers, and children.
MLA Narinder Pal Singh Sawna assured that the Punjab Government is ensuring every possible help for flood-hit families. He said that ration kits, cattle feed, and green fodder are being distributed on priority. He also reminded residents that the District Flood Control Room is active and can be contacted at 01638-262153 for assistance.
Earlier in the day, Dr. Baljit Kaur chaired a review meeting with district officials at the District Administrative Complex, directing them to work round-the-clock for effective relief operations.
Prominent among those present were ADC (General) Dr. Mandeep Kaur, SDM Virpal Kaur, DSP Avinash Chander, and Tehsildar Jaspreet Singh.
