On the eve of Teachers’ Day, Punjab Education Minister Harjot Singh Bains extended warm greetings to the teaching fraternity and expressed gratitude to educators who shape young minds and the nation’s future, while paying tribute to Bharat Ratna awardee and former President Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, in whose honour Teachers’ Day is celebrated on September 5.
In his message, Bains hailed teachers as the backbone of society, acknowledging their pivotal role in shaping students’ lives and building a stronger nation. He appreciated their tireless efforts in nurturing students with knowledge, values, and skills to become responsible citizens.
He noted that Punjab’s teachers have been instrumental in transforming the state’s education landscape. Initiatives such as School of Eminence and School of Happiness reflect the government’s commitment to elevating learning outcomes and empowering students for future challenges. He added that under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the state’s focus on quality education is reflected in students’ strong results in NEET and JEE and Punjab’s top ranking in the National Achievement Survey (NAS) 2024.
Bains also appealed to teachers to continue supporting flood relief efforts, emphasizing the importance of unity and community service in the face of natural adversity. As role models for society, teachers’ involvement can play a crucial role in helping Punjab overcome this challenge.
