ADC lauds ‘Environmental Guardian’ farmer Harpreet Singh for stubble-free wheat success
Ferozepur, October 19, 2025: Farmer Harpreet Singh from Ferozshah village in Ferozepur district has been officially recognised as a role model in sustainable farming, with the Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Major Amit Sareen, visiting his farm to commend his efforts. Singh, a progressive farmer known as a "guardian of the environment," has successfully led by example in stubble-free wheat sowing, offering a cleaner, more productive path forward for Punjab's agricultural community.
For several years, Harpreet Singh has entirely avoided the environmentally damaging practice of paddy stubble burning. Instead, he utilises modern machinery to manage crop residue and sow his wheat crop successfully. He explained his method, stating, "I make bundles of paddy stubble and later use a Super Seeder for wheat sowing." This practice has consistently yielded both high returns and a cleaner environment, proving that the method not only works but is also beneficial.
Farmer emphasized that his wheat crop has "never faced any problems" due to this method, debunking the myth that avoiding stubble burning hinders productivity. He asserts that integrating the residue back into the soil actively benefits soil fertility and overall productivity.
Call for Sustainable Practices
During his visit, Major Amit Sareen, ADC(G), specially appreciated the farmer's dedication to sustainable farming practices, highlighting him as an inspiration for others.
Harpreet Singh himself issued a heartfelt appeal to fellow farmers, urging them to stop burning crop residue and instead mix it back into the soil to maintain its natural strength and fertility. "By preserving our land’s strength, we safeguard air, water, and soil for future generations,” he concluded, underscoring the long-term environmental and ecological benefits of his method. Harpreet Singh's success stands as a clear testimony to the potential for a greener revolution in farming.
