CBI team returns to DIG Harcharan Bhullar’s residence; fresh search underway eight days after arrest

A Central Bureau of Investigation team on Thursday returned to the residence of Punjab DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, eight days after his arrest in a bribery case, and began a fresh search of the premises, officials said.
About 11 officers arrived around 2:30 p.m. in a Delhi-registered vehicle and have been conducting searches since, according to people aware of the development.
As per the information, acting on findings from a prior raid, the CBI revisited DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar’s residence for further investigation. The renewed search forms part of its continuing probe into alleged irregularities.
Bhullar was earlier arrested in connection with an alleged bribery matter, and is currently in judicial custody while the investigation remains ongoing.
Notably, the CBI had made major recoveries from multiple premises linked to the officer.
From the DIG’s Chandigarh residence, investigators seized:
- ₹7.5 crore in cash;
- 2.5 kg of gold jewellery;
- 26 luxury watches, including Rolex and Rado brands;
- Documents related to over 50 immovable properties in the names of family members and suspected benami entities;
- Locker keys and details of several bank accounts;
- Four firearms and 100 live cartridges.
At the Samrala farmhouse, officials found:
- ₹5.7 lakh cash;
- 108 bottles of liquor;
- 17 live cartridges.
From the residence of the alleged middleman:
- ₹21 lakh cash;
- Several incriminating documents.
