Ferozepur, November 5, 2025: In a significant breakthrough, the Ferozepur Police have uncovered a fabricated story of a self-inflicted gunshot injury staged by a group of youths to mislead authorities, leading to the arrest of five individuals and the recovery of an illegal Glock 9mm pistol with a magazine and five live rounds.
According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ferozepur, Bhupinder Singh Sidhu (PPS), the incident initially appeared to be a firing attack by unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants. On November 4, 2025, Kulbir Singh, a resident of Talwandi Bhai, had reported to Police Station Sadar Ferozepur that he was shot in the leg by two unknown persons while returning from Ferozepur with his friends. Based on his statement, a case was registered and an investigation commenced.
However, during the investigation and medical questioning, discrepancies came to light. Police found that Kulbir Singh and his associates — Kulwinder Singh alias Kinder, Manpreet Singh alias Mani, Sukhbir Singh alias Manna, and Arshdeep Singh alias Arsh — had actually visited Ferozepur to collect an illegal Glock pistol. While sitting in their car on Kacha Zira Road, Kulbir Singh accidentally discharged the weapon, injuring his own leg. To avoid legal consequences, the group fabricated a false firing story and falsely reported the incident as an attack by unknown bikers.
After sustaining the injury, they drove Kulbir Singh to Anil Baghi Hospital for treatment, while the pistol was handed over to Arshdeep Singh, who hid it at his residence in village Karmitti. Police interrogation later led to the recovery of the Glock pistol, magazine, and ammunition from his house.
Following the recovery, a case under Sections 109/231, 61(2) BNS and 25/54/59 Arms Act was registered. All five accused have been arrested. Kulbir Singh, currently under treatment, remains in police custody.
The SSP stated that the recovery of the illegal weapon strongly indicates potential criminal intentions. He added that under the directives of the Punjab Government and DGP Punjab, district police teams are actively cracking down on anti-social elements. He reaffirmed that strict legal action will continue against persons involved in illegal arms crimes and activities that threaten public safety.
