Ludhiana to host Asian Soft Tennis Championship 2026; 800 players from 34 countries to participate
Ferozepur, November 13, 2025: Ludhiana is set to emerge as an international sports hub with the city hosting the prestigious Asian Soft Tennis Championship from February 8, 2026. Around 800 players from 34 countries are expected to participate in the event, marking a major milestone in India’s growing prominence in the global sports arena.
Punjab Soft Tennis Federation State President Anumeet Singh Hira Sodhi, while speaking in Ferozepur, confirmed that both the Punjab Government and the Central Government have given their approval for organizing the championship in Ludhiana. He said that he recently held discussions with the Union Sports Minister and Union Home Minister, who have assured full cooperation for the successful conduct of the tournament.
Hira Sodhi informed that preparations for the event are already underway and the venue is being developed as per international standards to provide the best experience for both players and spectators. The championship will feature competitions in boys’ and girls’ categories for the under-15, under-18, and under-21 age groups.
A special delegation from Japan recently visited Ludhiana and appreciated Punjab’s sports infrastructure and arrangements during the site inspection. Describing the event as a matter of pride not just for Punjab but for the entire nation, Hira Sodhi said it will further enhance India’s reputation on the international sports stage.
He added that soft tennis is gaining rapid popularity in India, with Punjab emerging as its leading center. The upcoming championship, he said, will serve as a milestone in India’s sports history and help make Punjab a preferred destination for international sporting events in the future.
