MP Rajinder Gupta meets Union Minister Giriraj Singh, raises concerns of Punjab textile workers, cotton farmers

New Delhi, December 3, 2025:Trident Group Founder Chairman and Rajya Sabha Member Rajinder Gupta met Union Textile Minister Giriraj Singh in the national capital today, marking his first official interaction with the minister after entering the Upper House.
During the meeting, Gupta held discussions on key challenges facing India’s textile sector, with a special focus on Punjab.
He highlighted the adverse impact of the heavy tariffs imposed by US President Donald Trump, which have affected textile exports and industry competitiveness.
Gupta also drew attention to issues concerning Punjab’s cotton and jute farmers, farm labourers, and textile workers. He shared several informal suggestions aimed at strengthening welfare measures and improving the livelihood of those dependent on the sector.
Reaffirming his commitment to the industry, Gupta assured the minister that both the Trident Group and he, in his capacity as a Rajya Sabha member, would fully support the Union Government and the Ministry of Textiles in implementing future schemes aimed at sectoral development and worker welfare.
