Chandigarh, December 23, 2025: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab’s Chief Spokesperson and MLA Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal on Tuesday alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has once again exposed its anti-Punjab and anti-Sikh mindset by allegedly circulating an objectionable poster depicting Guru Sahiban and the Sahibzadas in cartoon form.
Addressing a press conference at the party office here, Dhaliwal alleged that BJP has repeatedly shown disrespect towards Punjab, Punjabi culture and its rich religious heritage through its actions.
He claimed that BJP has allegedly crossed all limits this time. “On one hand, the Sikh community across the world is observing Shaheedi Saptah and paying homage to the unparalleled martyrdom of the Sahibzadas, while on the other hand, BJP has allegedly released a shameful poster portraying Guru Sahiban and Sahibzadas in cartoon form, which is strictly prohibited under Sikh tradition,” Dhaliwal said.
Dhaliwal further alleged that the act has deeply hurt the religious sentiments of Sikhs and Punjabis globally. He claimed that since the alleged poster surfaced, widespread anger and resentment have been witnessed among Punjabis.
According to him, the controversy appears to have been deliberately created at a sensitive time, allegedly to disturb peace and communal harmony in Punjab.
Raising serious questions over the silence of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), Dhaliwal alleged that the apex Sikh body and its president Harjinder Singh Dhami have so far failed to take a firm stand on the issue.
He termed the silence “unfortunate” and alleged that political considerations may be behind the lack of immediate action.
Condemning the alleged act, the Aam Aadmi Party demanded that BJP’s central and state leadership should issue an unconditional public apology to the Sikh community worldwide.
Dhaliwal also appealed to the Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and the SGPC to take serious notice of the alleged violation of Sikh maryada. He urged the apex Sikh institutions to initiate appropriate religious and legal action so that, he said, no political party dares to allegedly hurt Sikh religious sentiments in the future.
