The Municipal Corporation of Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar has ramped up its efforts in the ongoing campaign against persistent Property Tax defaulters. This drive specifically targets major commercial and industrial entities that have consistently neglected to settle their long-overdue dues, despite multiple reminders and sufficient opportunities to comply.
Sealing notices under Section 138-C of the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act, 1976, have been properly issued. Final warnings have also been given, providing a final period of three days to settle the outstanding Property Tax, including any applicable penalties and interest.
The Municipal Corporation will proceed with sealing of defaulting properties on 07.01.2026 (Wednesday) without further intimation.
In the ongoing phase of the drive, four property owners or occupiers visited the office to complete their property tax assessments, while three property owners have cleared dues totaling around Rs 7 lakh.
The Municipal Corporation acknowledges this compliance but emphasizes that stricter measures, such as sealing properties and eventually auctioning them, will be enforced against persistent defaulters.
This strict action is being taken to ensure recovery of legitimate municipal revenue and to strengthen civic infrastructure and services for the welfare of citizens.
The enforcement efforts will persist until all pending dues are fully recovered in accordance with the law.
For clarification or assistance regarding pending dues, taxpayers may contact the Property Tax Branch, Municipal Corporation, SAS Nagar, during office
