Harminder Singh Sandhu joins SAD, appointed Chabbewal halka in-charge

Chandigarh, January 7, 2026: Harminder Singh Sandhu, former Sarpanch of Chabbewal village and AAP leader has joined the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today.
Announcing his induction, Shiromani Akali Dal President Sukhbir Singh Badal warmly welcomed Sandhu into the party fold, describing him as a young and energetic leader with strong grassroots connect. On the recommendation of the district unit, Sandhu has been appointed as the Halka In-charge of the Chabbewal Assembly constituency.
Harminder Singh Sandhu had contested the Chabbewal Assembly seat in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections on the Aam Aadmi Party ticket and secured nearly 40,000 votes, emerging as a key political figure in the constituency.
Expressing confidence in his new role, Sukhbir Singh Badal said that Sandhu would play an important role in further strengthening the Shiromani Akali Dal and expanding its organisational base in Chabbewal and surrounding areas.
