Chandigarh, January 14, 2026:Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann on Tuesday made a major revelation in the case related to the disappearance of 328 holy saroops, stating that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) has uncovered serious irregularities in both the count and official records of the sacred scriptures.
Referring to the ongoing SIT probe, the Chief Minister disclosed that 169 holy saroops were recovered from a religious place during the investigation. However, in a startling finding, 139 of these saroops have no official record whatsoever, raising serious questions about their origin and handling.
CM Mann said that only 30 saroops are officially documented, while there is no information on how, when, or from where the remaining saroops came. He termed the discrepancies as grave and unacceptable, especially considering the sanctity of religious scriptures.
The Chief Minister asserted that the SIT is conducting a meticulous investigation and that all those responsible for the manipulation of records and mismanagement will be exposed. “Such negligence and irregularities involving holy scriptures cannot be tolerated,” he said.
